The festive spirit spreads, and the markets open their doors full of lights and sweet treats. The air is filled with the scent of mulled wine, cinnamon stars, and gingerbread... We bring you directly from Berlin to the Harz. Here, the UNESCO World Heritage City of Quedlinburg invites you to the "Advent in den Höfen." In the midst of its historic town center, more than twenty of the most beautiful courtyards, which are locked away behind thick walls throughout the year, open up and shine in a festive Christmas glow. In front of the Town Hall, you will find the large illuminated Christmas tree and an abundance of Christmas treats. Thale offers a more tranquil atmosphere. How about a winter walk along the Präsidentenweg to the nearby Roßtrappe with a sensational view? On the way back, enjoy a quick drink to warm up at the Christmas market in the Town Hall square.

Our train starts in Berlin-Schöneweide (Regional train platform, track 1/2) - departure is around 6:00 AM, with a return scheduled for approximately 10:30 PM. The stay in Quedlinburg lasts about 6 hours. If you do not wish to board in Schöneweide, you can also join in Wannsee or Potsdam main station. Our special train is pulled by the express steam locomotive 03 2155 (130 km/h, built in 1934, 1980 HP, weight 159 tons, length 23.9 meters). In the historic dining car, the scent of coffee, cakes, mulled wine, and other delicacies fills the air during the journey.

There is a discount for families: If at least 2 adults travel with several children over 6 years old, a reduced fare applies for 2 to 4 children. For children aged 6 to 14, select the fare class "Child (6-14) for family ticket."

--- The steam locomotive meeting 2025 is themed "A festival for the whole family" ---

For a long time, it has established itself as a meeting point for railway and steam locomotive enthusiasts. Numerous special trains from all over Germany and neighboring countries come to Dresden for this event. Their locomotives enliven the historic steam locomotive depot Dresden-Altstadt and can be experienced up close.
Our guests will not only have access to the depot on Zwickauer Straße, and the ring locomotive shed House 4, as well as the locomotive workshop along the sliding platform field on Würzburger Straße, but also the main building of the Transportation Museum in the Johanneum (next to the Frauenkirche) is part of the steam locomotive meeting. A historic bus shuttle is designed to connect the festival area on Zwickauer Straße with the main train station and the Johanneum again.

In addition to vendors with a diverse range of railway and model railway items, there are regular guided tours of the association's historical model railway layouts. The club bistro and various caterers will delight our guests with culinary treats ranging from snack and grill stands to fresh yeast dumplings, sweet waffles, and hearty fish rolls.

--- Castle trip on the Elbe ---

From the Terrassenufer in the Dresden Altstadt, our boat trip to Pillnitz Castle starts. After leaving the Dresden Altstadt, you will see the three historic Elbe castles from afar – Schloss Albrechtsberg, Lingnerschloss, and Schloss Eckberg were built from 1850 within 11 years on the site of a vineyard.

You will continue upstream, passing the famous Loschwitzer Bridge, known as the "Blue Wonder," the TV tower, and the maritime church "Maria am Wasser." After that, we approach the fourth, possibly the most famous castle, Pillnitz Castle. It is considered one of the most significant chinoiserie palace complexes in Europe. In the past, the castle and park complex served as a summer residence for the Saxon kings, including Elector Augustus the Strong.

Please note that both excursions cannot be completed in the given time!
