ME AND MR CASH - A theater evening with songs by Johnny Cash and June Carter

A February evening in the year 1968. Johnny Cash and his entourage are once again performing one of their sold-out shows, this time in a small Canadian town. The lively June Carter, descendant of the legendary Carter Family, is also present. After playing the final chords of their joint hit "Jackson" in front of several thousand fans, Johnny asks: "Will you marry me, June?" With spontaneity and incomparable wit, she skillfully evades a direct answer, turning the situation into a comic moment as if it were a rehearsed act. But Johnny persists - this time he doesn't give up: After 31 marriage proposals, June finally responds with a "Yes!" on that evening. Actors Lucie Mackert and Roman Roth, along with musician Thomas Maos, immerse themselves in the Carter-Cash world. They shed light on the two sides of a love in show business and showcase the many facets of the two main characters. They also bring to life important companions and family members, narrating the story of the two from numerous perspectives. Spuren der Flucht - Migration I Mauern I Menschenwürde

Since seven years, the photojournalist Klaus Petrus has been documenting escape routes through the Balkans to the EU countries. On these journeys, he lived with migrants in barracks, traveled with smugglers, crossed borders illegally with refugees, documented the violence of border police - and experienced a lot of humanity despite it all.

Migration is not only the big issue of our time, but also one that threatens to divide society into for or against - there is hardly any room for nuances. Klaus Petrus engages with refugees on an equal footing and, with his black and white photographs and narratives, shows the everyday life of people on the run, thus revealing the normality of a situation that is anything but normal.

There is, for example, the story of the Afghan Khalil, who after 1000 days on the run considers returning to his homeland, an Iraqi who pays off his debts as a smuggler, or the 70-year-old Samira from Pakistan, who has been stuck in Bosnia with her grandson for years. However, he encounters not only tragic and hopeless situations, but also many bizarre moments, moments of happiness, as well as love and hope. Klaus Petrus' images and stories cast an unusual light on migration - shaking up our entrenched image of refugees.

Klaus Petrus

Klaus Petrus was a philosophy professor at the University of Bern until 2012. Then he set off to the crisis regions of this world: Palestine, Iraq, Syria, Somalia, South Sudan, Ukraine. And repeatedly to the Balkan route, where he has been documenting escape stories since 2016. Since then, he has been working as a photojournalist and reporter. He reports on poverty, exclusion, migration, and wars from Switzerland, the Balkans, the Middle East, and sub-Saharan Africa.
In 2022, Klaus Petrus was awarded the Swiss Press Photo Award for his long-term project on migration. In 2023, his book "Am Rand" was published, featuring reports and portraits of people on the margins of our society.

Three Turkish women from the first generation of immigrants. They arrive in a foreign country that is so different from what they had imagined. They do not want to stay long, yet they are faced with the challenge of making friends with their new home. How difficult is it to integrate into another country? And what does this country do for that? "The German Ayşe" is a scenic contribution to the ongoing debate about the success of integration. Author Tuğsal Moğul portrays in his play three strong women, whose life stories speak for themselves on stage.

Tuğsal Moğul was born in Neubeckum in 1969. In his play premiered at the Theater Münster and invited to the 2013 intercultural festival "Made in Germany" in Stuttgart, he assembles his own memories and interviews he conducted with immigrants into a joyful revue about the beginnings of migration in Germany.

CAVEMAN takes a unique look at the relationship between man and woman. In the "magical underwear circle," Tom, the affable hero in the thicket of relationships, encounters his ancestor from the Stone Age, who allows him to partake in millennia-old wisdom: Men are hunters and women are gatherers. A fact that human evolution has not been able to change to this day. What the average man has always suspected, Tom now knows firsthand and wonders, "Why don't we just consider women and men as completely different cultures? With different languages, different behaviors, and different origins?" Inspired by this realization, Tom analyzes the strange universe of the gatherers: This mysterious world of best friends, shopping, and sex.
