KuSch goes Varieté, Vol. 17 "Mit Klaus Renzel, Mikail Karahan, Duo Charisma, Albert Tröbinger und Tigris"
Since 2008, the variety evenings at KuSch have been attracting a growing audience. Back then, we tried to add another touch to the already wide spectrum. With "KuSch goes Varieté," something started that none of us knew where it would lead. Now, the 16th edition of this concept is about to take place, which has evidently established itself.
For several years, the evenings have been sold out in advance, and in 2018, a Sunday afternoon show was added as a third performance. The success is also due to the fact that the audience experiences a program here that is on par with those at the GOP houses, the Krystallpalast, or the Tigerpalast. These shows can only be experienced in Herborn, making them even more unique.
In 2025, we have selected the following artists for you:
Klaus Renzel - the man with a guitar, the strangest instrumentation, and the most hair-raising moves in the comedy scene - rocks his way through a wild mix of hot Flamenco, cheerful classical, playful pop, and planned randomness, crossing through music history.
Whether it's Beethoven's past with AC/DC, his failed career as a bouncer, or his memories of his first visits to free jazz concerts - Klaus Renzel tells stories from his world as seen by the eccentric musician. And he does it so well that there won't be a dry eye.
Mikail Karahan, a native of Hamburg, discovered his passion for the stage at an early age. At the age of 6, he gained his first performing experience in a duck costume for Wilhelm Busch's "Max und Moritz." As circus became his most important hobby in his youth, Mikail decided that dancing with the "Cyr Wheel" should not just remain a passion. In 2018, he completed his training in this discipline at the "École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque" in Brussels. For his Cyr Wheel act "iT SOCKS!", he was awarded the "Annie Fratellini" prize at the 40th "Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain" in Paris and received the main prize "Golden Star" at the circus festival "Young-Stage" in Basel in November 2021. Since then, Mikail has been sliding on the stages of Europe in his red socks and with the Cyr Wheel - with a performance that never fails to delight audiences. For years, Tigris has been one of the most sought-after artists worldwide. Hulahoop is much more to him than just a hoop circling the hips. Tigris demonstrates this in his extraordinary performance, combining the fascinating play with the rings and the extreme flexibility of his well-trained body. He presents a performance that not only impresses with technical finesse but also with sophisticated choreography and his unbeatable charm. With a wink and an irresistible smile, he playfully presents highly demanding hula hoop acrobatics - a playful tribute to the images of Pierre et Gilles. This is accomplished body control and acrobatics in an indescribable aesthetic!
And when it comes to contortion, no one can match him. At the age of 7, he began learning the art of bending his body and developed into one of the most successful male contortionists worldwide. In a strikingly minimalist performance, Tigris delights with the pure flexibility of his trained body. A man and his body... nothing more is needed for this touching and fascinating contortion performance. Powerful handstands, graceful body bending, and his masculine appearance make this stylish act a unique experience.
Klaus Renzel - string acrobat on the guitar, with the strangest instrumentation and the most hair-raising moves in the comedy scene - rocks through a wild mix of hot Flamenco, cheerful classical, playful pop, and planned randomness across music history. And he does this at the highest, virtuosic level.
Whether it's Beethoven's past with AC/DC, his failed career as a bouncer, or his memories of his first visits to free jazz concerts - Klaus Renzel tells stories from his world as seen by the whimsical musician. And he does it so well that no eye remains dry.
The "Duo Charisma" has a lot to offer. Malina and Christian present an emotionally compelling performance on the duo trapeze. The fear of too much closeness and the danger of falling stand opposed to each other... "will you let me float or fall?"... An act of physicality and magic, showing what love does to and with us. Whether attraction or repulsion, surrender or resistance, rapture or suffering? none of these exist alone... The realization remains: no love without trust... and without trust, not this performance.
The remarkable partner acrobatics of the two also applies. And what Malina does on the slackline can rarely be seen on German variety stages.
Variety shows at KuSch - they are one of the highlights in the annual program. We look forward to the 17th edition now. And as always: this program can only be seen in this compilation in Herborn!
