Love Letters - Theaterstück von A.R. Gurney
A woman, a man, and their letters - that’s all the American author A.R. Gurney needs to bring a touching love story to the stage.
From their childhood, Andy and Melissa write each other letters. And they never stop, for a lifetime: different schools, different life plans, a war, affairs - yet their connection never breaks. Melissa is very wealthy, spoiled, and extroverted, while Andy is well-mannered, ambitious, and smart. In many respects, they could hardly be more different, but they are almost magically attracted to each other. They just cannot find a way to be together.
In a special way, the audience witnesses a unique connection between two people that defies space and time. And we cannot help but ask ourselves: What would have happened if everything had turned out differently?
With "Love Letters," the American author A.R. Gurney achieved international success as a playwright. In 1990, his unusual correspondence was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and "Time Magazine" listed "Love Letters" among the five best plays of the 1980s.

The press writes:
"What is crucial, however, is that 'Love Letters', even when one is already familiar with it, immediately draws you back in. This time with Ulrike Kinbach and Detlev Nyga. On stage, they pull the audience into the story of other people as quickly as only acting and literature can." (FR)
